Nazare Beach

Nazare Beach is wide sandy beach backed by cliffs located in the small but very popular among tourists beach resort of Nazare, Portugal.

Nazare is a small beach town in the municipal district of Leiria in Portugal. It has a beautiful sandy beach along the coast of the Atlantic ocean making it a popular tourist attraction. The beach is known to be the place where ace Hawaiian surfer Garett Mc’Namara broke a stunning world record by surfing 78 feet high super wave. The Nazare beach is a perfect relaxation destination with lots of amazing food cafes, ice-creams and beautiful sunsets to bust out all the stress.

How to Get There?

Tourists can get to the Nazare beach either by train, road or a coach.

By train (indirect route, requires bus/taxi)

Tourists can take a train to Valado de Frades and get off there. The beach is around 6 km away from here. The Rodoviaria do Tejo is a bus facility that is available from Valado de Frades to the Nazare beach. Alternatively, tourists can take a taxi service to the beach. By car

  • There is a “cycle path” with a stretch of around 65 km from Whalebone beach to Nazare beach.

By bus

The beach is highly popular for surfing. Good surfers can enjoy taking on the giant waves of the Atlantic. Tourists can also enjoy swimming. Children must be under constant supervision when at the beach.

The beach is easily accessible by the people with mobility restrictions or disabilities. The pathways to the beach do have wheel-chair friendly terrain.
