Maya Bay, Ko Phi Phi

Surrounded by 100 m high rocks, the Maya Bay consists of a series of beaches, with the longest one stretching at 200 m.

The marine guards charge 400 baht ($4) to step on the beaches around the bay. The place can get really overcrowded with an average of 30 speedboats and longboats perched there.

The view from the beach is excellent, the scenery is stunning, yet the annoying thing is that swimming is possible only in small segments on the bay.

Services on the beach

On the beach, there are some permanent beach facilities, including:

  • restrooms
  • a snack bar
  • a sanitary
  • and camping sites.

The snorkeling on the bay is definitely an option, since there are a lot of varieties of fish to see.

The easiest way to access the Maya Bay is through speedboats (many tourists recommend it) and longboats. The water is warm and turquoise, and there is a luxuriant stretch behind the viewpoint, for a restful beach walk.
